This post doesn't aim to rub my perfect relationship in your face. I'm certainly not trying to brag here because whatever splendid thing you did this V-day must have also had it's meaning, or the passionate 'I hate Valentine's Day' lack of.

I'm certainly not trying to brag here because whatever splendid thing you did this V-day must have also had it's meaning, or the passionate 'I hate Valentine's Day' lack of. But purposefully trying not to let Valentines have meaning, gives it some kind of meaning all the same. For example, the time when I threw a party about the silliness of Valentines and how it has no real meaning. I got everyone to dress up like angels or cupid or whatever to celebrate the meaninglessness. We all just ate cake and popped bubbly merely one year underage (don't judge, you've done it too).



Andrew, my boyfriend, in case you don't already know, loves celebrating things and never fails to throw in the significance. Which is funny because his first YouTube video made it look as though he had completely forgotten about V-day!


Anway, that was all a bit of fun! So last Friday I was iMessaged to meet him at the lift. I'm sure he just couldn't wait to see my reaction to the stunning bunch of multicoloured roses he had brought.

Cut to us arriving at Kronendal Manor outside Cape Town in Hout Bay. We were going to dine at their restaurant called Katima which is eastern-refined in style. It mixes the perfect amount of rustic with delightful drops of class. We were accompanied to our table where we sat on a low level couch which overlooked the snazzy bar. We ordered a delicious bottle of wine, La Bri Chardonnay to be specific and enjoyed a five course set menu of exquisite Thai food.

On Saturday we headed to my favourite area of The Cape; the Winelands. I love the area because of its beauty but also because I spent three years there as a student at Stellenbosch University. So it pretty much smells like a couple of years ago, where I was just starting out as a young adult with wide eyes.




Oh so nostalgic! Okay, moving on. We went to Warwick Wine Estate for a tasting. Sitting outside in the 37 degree heat was only made bearable by the array of cold white wines and of course the company. For a brief moment I wished that I was a child again like the young siblings I saw cooling off in the fountain. It was wonderful to see them living completely in the moment. After the tasting I asked Andrew to choose a bottle that I would buy for us. I suggested that we save it for Valentines next year. So we chose a wine that would mature with age. I thought it was a fun idea which may turn into a bit of a tradition!

We then arrived at our lunch spot. Andrew chose Guardian Peak as he had been there before and wanted to try it out again with me. Luckily we arrived just before the kitchen closed and enjoyed a delicious meal that went down well after our wine tasting.

On the way back to Cape Town I lowered the front seat slightly and closed my eyes against the afternoon sun. With a satisfied smile on my face, I took a short nap.

I have to admit, these special treats have made me more keen on Valentines. Well especially more than I used to be. Don't get me wrong, I still believe that it is a "money making scheme created by society", but sometimes it's fun to ride the wave. What this V-day also reiterated is that someday you will find yourself doing exactly what you've always dreamed of. The secret is remaining patient and poised. Have faith that one day you will find a partner if that is what you want, but also allow for life to happen in the weird and wonderful way that it does. Try not to force things. It's really true what they say, "love will hit you when you least expect it."

Oh and a lot of my single friends had a wonderful time this past weekend too. Just saying.

I had such an unexpected two days that left me feeling wildly grateful for all that I had seen and done. I will never forget the time I had with these people from all walks of life who shared one thing, the keenness for creativity in progression.

This summer Sony South Africa sent their Xperia Z Ultra for me to use...


Of course I decided to record my holiday at home with my family and friends in Knysna, South Africa. I brought the Xperia along to all of our adventures and whipped it out whenever I thought a moment needed to be captured. And when I got home after those long days, I'd sit back and relax using it again comfortably as a mini tablet to check Facebook, Twitter and YouTube #internetaddict!

Things I liked about the phone...

It was light weight, so it was brilliant to bring a long wherever I went
It's simple functionalities made it easy to capture moments quickly and spontaneously
It's battery life goes on and on, making it the most convenient device in the house
It's camera quality is incredible and great for HD playback
The size of the screen for playback reminds me of a mini cinema that you can bring around in your handbag
It's waterproof!!!

My craziest moment with the phone

We went to this place called Drupkelders to help film one of Caspar's videos. One of us left the Xperia on the side of the rock pool and I by a mistake touched it with my foot and it slid onto the dark and deep water below. Luckily Caspar was in the water, and he dived down to try and catch it before it disappeared forever. He was gone for a long time and then he came up empty handed with a disappointed face. 
I was in a state of shock. "IT'S GONE!?" I asked frantically.
Caspar then produced it in his other hand with a triumphant smile.
PHEW!!!!

When I came back to Cape Town, after one of my greatest holidays ever, and looked at all of the footage, I realized that I JUST HAD TO make a YouTube video that compiled all of the wonderful memories we'd captured.
