Hello lovelies!

For a while now I've been meaning to a do a collaboration with you. Sometimes I feel like my content becomes too 'one sided' if you know what I mean. It feels like it's just me sitting here doing stuff without interacting much with you.

I've been slightly sick this week and can't believe how much #lovemypet cheered me up! I sent out a tweet saying:



  

And your response was incredible! All of a sudden gorgeous little animals were flooding my notifications. It brought on a warm fuzzy feeling and even made me quite emotional! I love how so many of you have these companions you love so much, that you want to celebrate and share their awesomeness with others!

Our family dog Minime has been staying at a dog sitter for a while because my parents are away. I must say I am missing him more than ever, but you guys really made me feel better. So thank you!

But what is it that makes us love our pets so much?

Maybe it's because they are loyal? Loyal in the way that they stick by us even if we say and do silly things. They don't mind what we look like in selfies, nor do they judge how many followers we have on instagram or whether we did well in our latest homework assignments. Maybe it's also because they listen rather than wait for their turn to speak. Maybe it's because they look satisfied with life and know how to live in the moment. Who knows. All I know is that I #lovemypet because he knows who I am and loves me without needing a reason.

I felt like making something Halloweenish, so I decided to make one of my favourite desserts into a milkshake... AS ONE DOES!

It's easy to make and reminds me of when I was ten and addicted to making Oreo milkshakes. I don't remember washing up the mess though. My poor parents!




Ingredients:

Caramel/ vanilla ice cream
Milk
Wafers
Pumpkin
Cinnamon/ pumpkin spice

Directions:

Slice your pumpkin
Blend pumpkin, ice cream and milk in blender
Add some cinnamon or pumpkin spice and wafers if you wish!

Tip:

Dunk your glass into some milkshake so it covers the rim
Then dunk the glass into some mashed wafers


Your mikshake should look something like this! (Without the dead plants...I thought they looked Halloween themed okay!)

Hello lovelies,

I would like to share something special with you. This coming Saturday is the International Day of The Girl. Did you know that? The UN has marked the 11th of October the Day of The Girl since 2012. This year I was approached by the Latimer Group to help film a video in support of the Day of The Girl. The video was filmed by female vloggers from around the world and I was chosen to film a few things in South Africa.
 

I love how the video celebrates the positivity of being a woman and also speaks out about gender inequalities, discrimination and abuse suffered by girls all around the world. I think social media is a brilliant tool for change. Those who have the power to create and put stuff out there must do so for those who can't.

I made a video on behalf of this campaign, with the hope that people enjoy it and want to find out more. From bad hair days to tea solves all, the video talks about girls and their quirks.



It was great to be part of a campaign like this. It challenged me to go out there and film things I wouldn't usually. I found myself skateboarding down a Malay Quarter in Cape Town, creating girl power posters at an orphanage and holding my breath underwater to capture a girl in a wedding dress plunge into a pool. Along the way I learnt about myself, forged friendships and worked late into the night. Most of all though, I realized how lucky I am. Only 30 percent of girls make it through secondary school. This is a shocking statistic! I think the only way to make a change is to take action. Those of us who have 'educational power' need to use it, not just for personal and gain, but for uplifting girls, who right now, may not even believe they have a chance.
