Hello lovelies,

Some of you are already back at school after a very short holiday (and very yummy holiday, thanks to the Xmas pudding!) If you're lucky enough to still be on holiday, well ignore this blogpost until the night before. Stop being on the internet, go out and enjoy your holidays! ;)

First of all, it's a new year which means you have the opportunity to turn over a fresh page in your exam pad. Leave all negativity about school on last year's pages. No more worrying about that frizzy hair you couldn't control, or the test you didn't pass - you are here now with the opportunity to tie you hair up and study harder! This year you're not just going to survive school, you're going to OWN school! Here's how:

Eat well. Healthy eating will help you to perform better at school. Sugary drinks and crisps are fast carbs that might give you energy, but will not sustain you through your long school day. Pack a healthy lunch or choose the healthier school lunch option or if there isn't any healthy food at your school start a petition for healthy food and if that doesn't work avoid pudding at all costs until Friday! (I'm a firm believer of treating yourself on Friday.)

Set goals. By this I don't mean 'GET A'S FOR ALL EXAMS' and 'WAKE UP AT 5AM EVERY MORNING TO BRUSH HAIR', I mean fun easy-to-achieve goals that you can do on any given day. For this, I'd suggest getting a diary and writing little things you'd like to try on certain days like so:



Listen in class. Before you say "boooooriiiing", hear me out! Listening is probably the biggest favour you can do for yourself in life. If you start listening at school, you'll find life a whole lot easier. If you listen closely, teachers often give away what they're going to put in exams. And if you have trouble retaining, write the important stuff down. This will help you get ready for university if you plan on studying further, because university is all about taking notes. And when you have a job, listening is the most valuable tool you can have.

Put your phone away (so you can do the above!) Trust me, the internet will be there when you get home.

Go to bed earlier. Sleep will give you the power to stay motivated and perform at school. If you're tired, you won't have the energy for any of the things in this list. The trick to falling asleep early for me is to get into bed with a book rather than my phone. Here are some of my favourite books I think you should read:



Change your hairstyle. There's something about hair, isn't there? When you're happy with your hair you are 99% more likely to feel happier with yourself (according to me, who just made that stat up.) Here are some great easy to do hairstyles. Thanks, YouTube!



Plan something fun for the weekend. Even though it's important to live in the moment, it's also nice to look forward to things. So why not make plans on Monday to do something fun on the weekend with friends or family? Something that will motivate you to work towards.

Some ideas I can think of for the wintery peeps: Ice-skating, movie marathons, thrift shopping, a bake-off, board games evening, a dinner party etc!

Summer ideas: Beach, barbecue, hike, pool party, street shopping, food markets etc!

Be positive! Often when I give advice people point out the things they can't do. That's a real problem. Negativity can really ruin your potential to enjoy your life to the full. Instead of making excuses because you can't, find ways that you can. Don't dwell on the bad, seek out the good. And when something goes wrong, look for the valuable lesson you have learnt. Keep smiling, because let's face it, frown lines are never going to be in fashion.
